Storehouse - Xmas Gig Friday 15 Dec
Irony levels high as beat combo grapples urban realism.
Folks. NEWS of a festive end of term Storehouse show at the Parnell RSC, tomorrow night December 15th 2023. Yes, Parnell again. The last one was a stormer and as the saying goes, lightning always strikes the same place repeatedly. The music kicks off 8.30pm with a band featuring Tom Rodwell on guitar, Chris O’Connor on drums, Count Bassy on bass (not sax) and the mysterious Iona Wylde on keys.
Presale tickets are available right here, with limited door sales also available. Great public transport links and curry houses accessible within mere metres.
People say it’s an ideal date night / escape night / Xmas gift / tax write-off and a generally nice mellow hang. People say enjoy yourself for once, let your hair down for god’s sake. People say it would do you good.
Listen to the people. Time to call in those babysitting favours, dust off the last functional pair of dress shoes you own, grab some of the folding stuff and a little of what’s stashed in the old prescription bottle with the faded blue label and head down to the show.
Other thrilling news from music-land:
Tune in to student radio 95bfm circa 4.30 tomorrow (Dec 15th) for an acoustic live-to-air.
As drummer Chris O’Connor hits the big five-0 we celebrate in properly ragged style.
The CD stock of Wood & Waste is gone, but some LP’s remain and are ready to burn a hole in your presumably cavernous seasonal stocking. Arrange purchase directly (reply to this email) or here. Elsewhere’s review is a reliably nice read.
TR lands a letter to the editor in the Herald.
TR contibutes fairly unhinged guitar parts to sessions for ingenious new arthouse jazz / groove record by Wellington drummer Mike Jensen (with Kevin Field, Oli Holland, Finn Scholes and Callum Passells) at Auckland’s famed Kennth Myers Centre).
Let’s leave 2023 there, smouldering in the dust at the side of the highway. Best musical wishes for the new year everybody.
